Selling Micheal Jackson's stuff
When Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, Calif., kicks off its four-day sale of more than 1,000 items belonging to Michael Jackson, the most expensive lots, oddly enough, may not be the few pieces of fine art owned by the King of Pop.Instead, memorabilia directly associated with the 50-year-old star's public career are likely to spur the most heated bidding contests and the highest prices. There's the white spandex glove covered in Swarovski crystal sequins that Jacko wore frequently throughout the 1980s. It's stained with sweat and several threads have come loose, yet such signs of sustained contact with the star's body boost the value of this iconic piece of Jackson's wardrobe. Though the glove is estimated at $10,000 to $15,000, Julien's executive director, Martin Nolan, guesses it could fetch as much as $200,000. Another iconic wardrobe item: a glittering, roped, red and gold...

POW benefit claimants exceed recorded POWs
I am all for helping Veterans that served our country. I think it is the least we can do to show we appreciated their service. But many seem to be "playing" the system:There are only 21 surviving POWs from the first Gulf War in 1991, the Department of Defense says. Yet the Department of Veterans Affairs is paying disability benefits to 286 service members it says were taken prisoner during that conflict, according to data released by VA to The Associated Press. A similar discrepancy arises with Vietnam POWs. Only 661 officially recognized prisoners returned from that war alive - and about 100 of those have since died, according to Defense figures. But 966 purported Vietnam POWs are getting disability payments, the VA told AP.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090411/ap_on_re_us/too_many_powsThis is just another example of our bureaucracy being too big to know what it is...

Freddie Mac Fannie May...They Are Back!
Welcome to Politics 2009 in America!! I hope this is not going to keep going!! Money is just being tossed around like crazy, but I have yet to see one actual, regular American benefit. According to the Congressional Budget Office, workers for FM/FM are getting $210 Billion in bonuses. It was announced last week...very very quietly. That is pretty funny, in a sad sort of way. I wonder if the government is really going to take over banks...it is kind of scary, considering Congress' rather poor track record of handling money. Wasn't there somewhere around $82 Billion dollars in bounced/bad checks? Apparently they were loan payments or something? Geesh...if I did that I would be in serious trouble!! I think it was 1991. But seriously...Fannie and Freddie have cooked the books worse than Enron did, and they are somehow safe. And now they are getting BONUSES. They are being rewarded....
...How did that song go???...
Does anyone remember that song, it was probably around 1991 or so...something about driving, and someone cuts you off, and there was a line in there about Scooby Snacks. It is driving me crazy!![em]cry[/em]
Another Red Flag! Obama seeks Muslims for White House posts
Barack Obama is conducting his own affirmative action program to get more Muslims in the White House. The move began with Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn, who took his oath of office with a hand on the Quran, to solicit the resume of what he considered to be the nation's most qualified adherents of Islam. According to the Denver Post, when White House officials heard about the program, it was put on overdrive. So far, 45 Ivy League grads, Fortune 500 executives and government officials have been submitted for consideration The one parapgrah ""We thought it would put (the president) in a precarious position. We didn't knowhow closely he wanted to appear to be working with the Muslim American community." strikes real fear in me. This is what I have been afraid of all along. What else is Obama hiding from us?J. Saleh Williams, program coordinator for the Congressional...

about the kadesha valley
The Kadisha Valley (also known as Qadisha Valley, Wadi Qadisha, Ouadi Qadisha, lies within the Becharre and Zgharta Districts of the North Governorate of Lebanon. The valley is a deep gorge carved by the Kadisha River, also known as the Nahr Abu Ali when it reaches Tripoli. Kadisha means "Holy" in Aramaic, and the valley, sometimes called the Holy Valley, has sheltered Christian monastic communities for many centuries.Geography The long, deep Qadisha Valley is located at the foot of Mount al-Makmal in northern Lebanon. Through it the Holy River, Nahr Qadisha, runs for 35km from its source in a cave (grotto) a little way below the Forest of the Cedars of God. The sides of the valley are steep cliffs that contain many caves, often at more than 1000m and all difficult of access. The most scenic section of the valley stretches for approximately twenty kilometers between Bsharri, the...
